The Help Desk knowledge base has suggestions for many technical questions about using computers and other devices.

Help Desk Services

The Information Commons Help Desk provides front-end support for various services run by different divisions within the University of Toronto Libraries and the University of Toronto, assisting with identity management, email services, connectivity, and more.

We support:

Identity Management: We can help with UTORid/JOINid, password resets, and UTORMFA onboarding
Email Services: We provide support for UTmail+, alumni mail, UTORlist, shared mailboxes, and UTORgrouper
Connectivity: We can help with wireless connections and UTORvpn
Security: We address security blocks, email quarantines and compromised accounts
Software support – We can assist clients with UofT licensed software and installing UofT-licensed Microsoft365 applications.

Information Commons staff also manage computers and printing stations in the Information Commons area and at Robarts Library.

We do not support:

Hardware Repairs: The Help Desk does not provide hardware repair services, including photocopiers.

ID Creation: We cannot create UTORids or UTmail accounts. Learn more about the UTORid process.

Updating information on a user’s record like name, or date of birth. Learn how to update your name and other personal information as a student and as a staff member.

Loan technology like laptops, chargers, etc., or recommend software/hardware for personal use. Learn how to borrow technology at the libraries.

3D Printing. This service closed at Robarts at the end of 2025. If you require 3D printing support, please visit Gerstein’s MADLab.
